Colorado Wildlife Management
About the Wildlife Council
Formally known as the Colorado Wildlife Management Public Education Advisory Council (WMPEAC), the council was conceived and developed by a coalition of hunters, anglers and conservationists working together with livestock and agriculture organizations, and created by Colorado legislature in 1998.
The hunting and fishing license fee system is the main method of financing wildlife management in Colorado.
By statute, the Council’s mission is to oversee the design of a comprehensive public media-based program to educate the general public about the benefits of wildlife, wildlife management, and wildlife-related recreational opportunities in Colorado, specifically hunting and fishing.
