PARKING AT OLLI’S THREE PRIMARY LOCATIONS

FAIRFAX: Tallwood (OLLI headquarters/primary class site)

Parking at Tallwood. Be careful on Roberts Road approaching Tallwood from the south because the hill obstructs the view of oncoming traffic. There is a limited amount of paved or gravel parking in front of and behind Tallwood, including several spaces restricted to vehicles with handicapped licenses/tags and spaces reserved for staff/instructors. Many parking spaces are available in the adjacent swimming pool parking lot, leased by OLLI for members’ use during class hours. Overflow parking is available on streets in the neighborhood – both to the east directly across Roberts Road and to the north on the first street, Forest Avenue – but please be courteous to residents by leaving room next to driveways (Fairfax County code says no parking within 10 feet of a driveway); also, watch for no-parking signs. Caution: be VERY careful when walking across Roberts Road; wait until you are sure you have plenty of time to cross.

RESTON: United Christian Parish (primary class site)

Parking at United Christian Parish. OLLI has a new “home” site in Reston – the United Christian Parish (UCP) church, where most classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays will be held. UCP is located about 1/2 mile from Lake Anne Plaza.
Important note: The church also hosts a fairly large preschool program in which parents drop off and pick up children at the same entrance we will be using. For morning OLLI classes, you should plan to arrive no earlier than 9:20. The classes start at 9:40, so you will be fine if you arrive 5-10 minutes prior to that.
To enter the parking lot by car, use the new [east] entrance on North Shore Drive where you see the yellow OLLI sidewalk sign. This is only an entrance, not an exit. Approximately 49 parking spaces are available between the street and the entrance door in the back of the building. The ones closest to the door should be saved for OLLI members who would have difficulty walking; we will have two “OLLI Preferred Parking” signs in the parking area closest to the door. There are also five marked handicapped parking spaces for people with handicapped plates/tags.
When leaving the parking lot by car, there is only one exit: Use the entrance/exit on the other side of the church building (not the entrance with the OLLI sign) – the one that is adjacent to the Lake Anne Elementary School located just to the west of UCP.
Additional on-street parking is available along the curb of North Shore Drive and on Fairway Drive, the north-south road leading into North Shore Drive in front of the church. OLLI members are encouraged to use caution when parking along North Shore Drive and to use the side closest to the church whenever possible.
